Photovoltaic concentrator collectors

The use of photovoltaic (PV) technology is currently limited due to its high cost. The overall goal of the research is to develop a new PV system concept which offers a significant cost reduction and is suitable for distributed electricity generation in an urban environment. The proposed concept will reduce the required solar cell area, similar to other concentrating systems. However unlike traditional concentrators, the structural,

economic and visual drawbacks due to the need to track the apparent motion of the sun, are absent. These advantages should lead to wider acceptance of PV technology and a significant boost to the substitution of fossil fuels with clean renewable energy.
