Futuristic energy: Produce fuel from seaweed

Development of offshore grown marine biomass- macroalgae- resources to supply for food, chemicals and fuels without additional use of arable land and drinking water

In 2015 G7 leaders announced that by 2100 the target to completely displace the use of fossil fuel in all branches of economy. The question remains how that can be practically done? One of the solutions that can partially address this problem is Bioeconomy- an economy that is based on using biomass as a raw material for food, chemicals and fuels. We propose to develop offshore grown marine biomass- macroalgae- resources to supply for food, chemicals and fuels without additional use of arable land and drinking water.
